The purpose of the health week is to form a commitment among the population to follow the rules of a healthy diet with an emphasis on the possibilities of controlling the energy balance. Irrational nutrition with excessive energy consumption of food, low physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle are the main factors in the increase in the prevalence of abdominal and generalized obesity.

Obesity is recognized by the World Health Organization as a new non-communicable epidemic of our time, posing a serious threat to human health. Obesity is one of the most serious risk factors for the development of diseases, primarily of the cardiovascular system, cancer, diabetes mellitus, diseases of the musculoskeletal system.

The main principle of a rational diet for obesity is to reduce the caloric content of the daily diet to 1800 kcal per day for men and 1500 kcal for women.
